The Orchestra of Situation Opera is an integral part of the company - in some organisations the orchestra is merely an accompaniment for the singers but we believe that the core of an opera's musical stability comes from the orchestra and thus the ensemble is only complete with singers and orchestra working in harmony.
Instruments
In the modern day, orchestras in the United Kingdom normally tune their 'A' to 440Hz - to tune to 415Hz as in Mozart's time requires string instruments to be set-up differently and so we choose to perform at the modern standard of A440. However, in our quest to come as close to Mozart's orchestra as we can, we do use natural horns and trumpets within the orchestra. This gives the feel and unique sound of the baroque orchestra but without the associated costs of period string instruments.
Personnel
Like our singers, the orchestra of Situation Opera consists of professional young musicians with a passion for Mozart. Each player brings interesting and diverse experiences to the ensemble, and we feel this is the key to a successful group. Below you will find pictures of the orchestra, as well as biographies for our players.
