Dutch Soprano Iris Korfker is currently continuing with her MMus, studying with Alison Wells at Trinity College of Music, having completed her undergraduate degree there in 2006. This year she has received the Eva Malpass Scholarship. Iris Performed the role of Blanche in TCM’s college opera 2007, Les Dialogues des Carmelites by Poulenc, for which she was awarded the Paul Simm Opera Prize.
Last summer she joined British Youth Opera for the production of The Magic Flute in which she understudied the 2nd Spirit and joined the chorus. Other performing highlights last year were a recital in the St Martin in the Fields Lunchtime series, soprano soloist in Laudate Pueri Dominum and Dixit Dominus by Handel with the Thomas Tallis Society, soloist in the French ‘Quille Festival’ and with the Cheltenham Bach Choir conducted by Stephen Jackson last June.
Iris has been on the mentor scheme with The Sixteen and is a new member of Ex Cathedra. She has had masterclasses with Emma Kirkby, Esther Salaman, Adrian Thompson, Evelyn Tubb and Noelle Barker. Future engagements include the role of Fiordiligi with this company, Situation Opera. In addition, Iris will be giving two recitals at St Alfege Church in Greenwich, as well as singing Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate.
