Maxine began her interest in music at school playing the violin and singing in school choirs and drama productions. She played for seven years with the Worcestershire County Youth Orchestra and then continued playing in adult life with various amateur orchestras whilst earning a living as a physiotherapist and bringing up a family.
Having been persuaded to take part in some amateur dramatics, Maxine began to study singing with Ann Spicer, in Hitchin Hertfordshire, and gained her Grade 8 with distinction in 2003. She joined the North Herts. Guild of Singers in 2002, with whom she toured to Malta in 2004. During this tour she sang the solo Pie Jesu in Faure's Requiem. Since then Maxine has sung with the Royal Choral Society and OSJ singers ( who sing with the Orchestra of St. John's Smith Square), and Sanctus with Nick Newland and Marion Wood.
Maxine works with children with physical and learning difficulties, and has devised joint sessions with a Music Therapist to use a combination of music and movement to enhance the children's communication. In 2007, needing a new challenge Maxine joined the BBC Symphony Chorus, and the highlight of the year was participating in the Last Night of the Proms. Another busy Proms season lies ahead…
