Naomi Hughes is studying for a degree in Archaeology at the University of Exeter. She was born and brought up just outside Taunton in Somerset. In addition to her studies Naomi plays the violin, harp and recorders – currently she is president of the Folk Society in Exeter and regularly plays with a variety of ensembles. She has been interested in historical costume for many years and works with living history group Taunton Garrison (www.tauntongarrison.co.uk). Here she makes costumes for herself and others, ranging from the reign of Elizabeth the First to the Eighteenth Century.
As well as her work with costumes, Naomi helps produce historical plays and create costumes for organizations such as the European Garden Heritage Network – she can even darn socks!
As a musician, Naomi is a senior scholar at the University of Exeter and has toured Europe playing the violin and timpani! With Situation Opera, Naomi will be working to develop and produce costumes for the cast.
