Ruth James is a professional actress and singer, experienced in London’s West End and national and international television. Recent performances have included Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens and the lead role in She. Other appearances include roles in Buddy, Grapes of Wrath and Moll Flanders.

West End credits includes Peggy in Ben Elton’s Silly Cow (Haymarket), Prossy in Candida (Arts) and Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland (Mermaid). Featuring amongst Ruth’s operatic credits are Mother Superior in Hindemith’s Sancta Susanna, Verdi's Forza del Destino and Tosca in Terence Rattigan’s Before Dawn. TV work includes Wycliffe, House of Elliott, and Rough Justice. Ruth has stared in films such as Relative Values, Checkpoint Charlie and Letting Go. She is in high demand for voiceovers.
