Born in Milton Keynes but raised in Hampshire, Tom first started as a treble with the choir of All Saints Church, Braishfield at the age of 7 and started to learn the paino the same year. Picking up the trombone from the age of 9, Tom played and sang in a number of local ensembles before joining the Hampshire County Youth Choir at the age of 14 and becoming section principle at the age of 16.
At the age of 15 he also gained the Hampshire Award for exceptional ability on the trombone and this has allowed him to study trombone under Cliff Bevan. Having also toured Canada with the Youth Choir (and playing a trombone concerto in Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria), he is now at the university of Exeter, studying Ancient History and is a joint Choral and Music Scholar, studying singing under Judith Sheridan.
In his spare time, he plays with many University ensembles and co-runs and chamber choir (called Hoi Rhapsodoi) and runs his own jazz septet (called The Trilbies) in which he plays the double bass.
